If you’re an avid reader of my blog then you already know what it means when you see Curvy Spotlight in the title! If you’re new here well you’re in for a treat! Curvy Spotlight was designed to highlight women in business who are doing amazing things in their perspective industries.
Today’s Curvy Spotlight is a young lady who is doing it all as a Finance Consultant by day and a model and stylist by night! I guess you can understand why I had to feature her; meet Carmelita Frazier.

What was the reason you chose to be a model and stylist as a profession?
Modeling has always been a dream of mine, but I never took it seriously because I never saw anyone that looked like me. As a result, I was afraid to take the chance. However, that changed in 2017! Women and girls all over the world, myself included, continue to yearn for representation of themselves whether it be for fashion, self-confidence or to achieve their dreams. Therefore, I became the woman I wanted to see by chasing a dream that I never thought I could.
Where did your interest in modeling and styling come from?
Styling is something I’ve always done for myself and others. Styling for me is an expression of my personality and how I feel at the time. From middle school to college I’ve always helped my friends both men and women shop and create outfits. As time went on styling requests started to come and so did the adrenaline rush which is how I knew it was for me! Although it was something that I loved, it took time and travel for which I could not afford out of pocket alone. Therefore, I decided to create a business that allowed me to do what I love, be compensated for my time, and uplift the spirts of others.

How long have you been in the business of modeling and styling?
I started Modeling in 2017- two years. I started LitaF.Styles in 2018 – one year.
Did you feel intimidated or overwhelmed entering into the fashion industry in either capacity?
Honestly, I did not. What I did was took the risk and bet on myself. I did and continue to do things my way and created a lane for myself. Slowly but surely, I am arriving in both areas. I don’t compete or compare myself to others. I use others in the industry as a means of inspiration and for encouragement to go harder. I’m a firm believer of “What’s meant for me will be”. Therefore, I walk all life’s runways by faith!
How have you been received by the fashion community thus far and how would you like to see that reception grow?
Thus far, I think I have made influence and impact within the community. People message me all the time telling me how I have inspired them. Whether it be to model or just simply to step outside of their comfort zone within fashion or life in general. I aspire to inspire, plus, I’d love to continue to impact women all over the world by continuing to break society’s barriers/standards of what beauty and fashion should be.
What would you like to see happen with your modeling and your styling within the next year?
I would love to work with some new brands for modeling and see myself on their advertising, perhaps billboards lol. Honestly, I’m just seeing where God leads me as I continue to put for the effort. Also, now that I have signed with Part & Parcel, I’m excited to see what next year has in store.
As for styling, I would love to welcome new clients and possibly start another apparel venture under LitaFStyles (Shhhh can’t talk too much lol but stay tuned!)
If you had to give a vital piece of advice to someone interested in entering this industry what would it be?
Just do it! Do it for you and because you want to. Don’t worry about what anyone else is doing. Be authentically YOU!
What is your ultimate business goal?
I’m not quite sure yet as ultimate sounds long term to me. However, I’d love to model and style full time.
What is your word of advice for any woman with a desire to begin a business?
Take the risk and believe in yourself. If you don’t show up for you then no one else will. So, believe in you and align yourself with like-minded individuals within the same or similar industries. Contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of other genuine women that want to see you win so find those and build genuine relationships. Most of all, treat people how you wish to be treated and operate with integrity!
