Curvy Spotlight: Top of the Line Diva Boutique

Curvy Spotlight is easily becoming my favorite type of articles to post because I truly enjoy meeting ambitious women in business. Today’s Curvy Spotlight is someone I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of weeks ago at a local event.

What caught my eye was the dazzling accessories displayed on her booth and I was immediately intrigued to learn about this young lady.

Meet Timasha:

1. What was the reason you chose to get into fashion retail as a profession?

The reason I got into the fashion industry is because I saw that there was a need in the plus size world. I am a size 20 and have always had a problem finding affordable and stylish clothing to fit my body type. A lot of people in this industry will advertise fashion for plus size women but it wouldn’t be a plus size woman representing it.

2. How long have you been in business?

I’ve been in business for almost 2 years in April

3. Did you feel intimidated or overwhelmed entering into the fashion industry?

I didn’t feel intimidated when entering this industry, but I was overwhelmed because it was ablot of work. I was working a full time job plus Ubering on my day off to finance my dreams. Some days I would be running on 4 hours of sleep.

I created my website, researched my vendor ( which can sometimes be a trial and error process) and I am also the model for my Curvy & Blessed Collection. I edit the pictures and upload them to my website. It’s a lot of work if you are doing everything on your own. If you have a solid team that’s helping you get your business off the ground utilize them them.

4. Where did your interest in fashion come from?

I have always love fashion and dressing up. I’m one of those plus size women that loves her curves and has never allowed anyone to put me in a box. I wear what I like and what looks good to me. You heard that last part right? What looks good to me. The only opinion that matters in fashion is your own; create your own style and your own lane.

I created Top of the Line Diva Boutique to help women do just that. I wanted to show women you can be bold, be beautiful and be their self at any size.

5. How have you been received by the fashion industry/community thus far and how would you like to see that reception grow?

The plus size women love me! I’m creating a feeling not just a look, I don’t sell anything that I wouldn’t wear.  I’m still learning and growing everyday, in this industry you have to learn to be patient and do the work. Nothing happens overnight but believe me when I say, when it’s your time to shine you will. I am out here grinding, spreading the word about my business and meeting some amazing people along the way.

6.What other services do you endeavor to include in the future?

I plan on designing and creating a causal line for the whole family; women, men and children in the next year. I also plan on opening a warehouse and  shipping around the world.

7. If you had to give a vital piece of advice to someone interested in entering this industry what would it be?

Apply your self, if you can’t stop thinking about it do it.  Create and live your dream the only limitation you’ll ever have in life are the ones you create for yourself.

8. What is your ultimate business goal?

My ultimate goal business goal is to help restore women’s confidence. Confidence is the best outfit you could ever wear. I want to help empower women and teach them self love because that’s the only love that matters.

9. What is your word of advice for any woman with a desire to begin a business?

Do it!!  What are you waiting for? There will never be a perfect time to start a business. Step out on faith. I read something awhile ago (but don’t quote me on exactly how it was said but) it went a something like this: “ You would rather wait a whole year for .50 cent to a $1.00 raise while you help build someone else’s generational wealth rather then your own ? Could you be doing more and making more?”  That  should be the question you ask yourself whenever you’re doubting what you are capable of accomplishing.

Self doubt is our biggest downfall as people. Change your mindset and you will change your life. Speak positivity over your life.
